Paradisus Palma Real, the luxury all-inclusive resort in Punta Cana, Dominican Republic, launched a new Convention Center in early December 2013. Designed by renowned architect Alvaro Sans, the new Convention Center encompasses just under 18,000 square feet of multi-functional and flexible space.
Now, Paradisus Palma Real’s meeting space totals 42,000 square feet, complete with 15 conference and breakout rooms. The resort can accommodate convention attendees in its 744 guest suites and for even larger groups needing more space, the resort’s sister property, Melia Caribe Tropical, is located just a short walking distance away. Together, the combined resorts contain 1,900 suites, 63,000 square feet and 31 conference and breakout rooms.
The new state-of-the-art Convention Center provides everything needed to experience complete turnkey high level general sessions and entertainment in Punta Cana. The resort partnered with the American Audio Visual Center (AAVC) along with Caribbean Audio Visual Center (CAVC) and Blue Avenue Studios, for their full-service creative content, show production and audio visual technology needs. AAVC is an expert in the use of 3D site visit technology, various levels of video mapping, wireless and immersive gesture technology.
Meeting planners are now able to schedule a site tour of the Convention Center prior to booking events. The facility houses an “Experience Lounge” — a place where the events and production team can showcase 3D site visits of the new convention center, complete with customer branding and set design. In this “lounge,” the customer puts on 3D Stereoscopic glasses during the site visit process. After walking though the space on the visit, the guest will then experience what the room will feel like with set design and technology elements customized to fit their message and meeting time.
The new Convention Center, boasting 29 foot high ceilings, can be set up in myriad configurations, including cocktail, theater, classroom and banquet style, allowing flexible spaces for meetings and events. The facility is also structured to permit a seamless load-in and break down, with ample space for vehicles to drive in and out. It will also boast kitchen facilities that cater to all dietary restrictions.
